SOCAL PRELIMS – MULTIPLE QUALIFIERS
Hornets Send Strong Group to SoCal Finals After Solid Showing at 3C2A Prelims
The Hornets took a trip up to Bakersfield College for the 3C2A Southern California Prelims and had multiple student-athletes qualify for the SoCal Finals.
Leading the way for the Hornets was Olivia Yturriaga, who qualified for the SoCal Finals in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 106 '1". Edie Pfefferkorn also secured her spot in the finals in the javelin giving Fullerton a strong presence in the field events.
On the track, Jenna Krostag locked down a spot for the finals in both the 200 meters and 400 meters showcasing her versatility and speed. Distance standout Brittany Rodriguez was added to the qualifiers list advancing in both the 1500 meters and the 5K.
While several Hornets just missed qualifying, they capped their seasons with standout efforts. Yturriaga returned in the shot put and delivered a huge personal best of 35' 6" improving four feet over the course of the season to finish 13th overall.
Astrid Morales also closed her season on a high note recording a personal-best time of 1:13.90 in the 400-meter hurdles, while finishing 15th overall.
Fullerton's relay teams continued to show progress as well. The 4x100 relay team of Krostag, Shiann Rivanis, Pfefferkorn, and Yuvi Balles clocked a 52.20 that placed 14th overall. Meanwhile, the 4x400 relay squad of Morales, Pfefferkorn, Rivanis, and Krostag ran their fastest time of the year at 4:18.01 finishing 13th overall.

Up Next: The Hornets will compete at the 3C2A Southern California Finals on Saturday, May 9th at Bakersfield College. The field events will begin at 12:30 pm with the track events starting at 4:15 pm. Qualifiers from this event will advance to the 3C2A State Championships at Mt. SAC May 15-16.
