STRONG SHOWING AT THE OEC CHAMPIONSHIPS

It was a solid weekend for the FC women's track and field team as the Hornets delivered a strong all-around performance to finish fourth overall with 49 points at the Orange Empire Conference Championships hosted by Riverside City College.

Leading the charge was Jenna Krostag, who turned in a dominant showing on the track. Krostag captured the conference title in the 400 meters with a blazing time of 56.16, earning first-place honors, and followed it up with a runner-up finish in the 200 meters (24.62).

Fullerton showcased its depth across multiple events highlighted by Brittany Rodriguez, who placed third in the 1500 meters (5:03.39) and added a fourth-place finish in the 5K (20:35.74). In the throws, Olivia Yturriaga contributed in all four events placing fifth in both the javelin (101'8") and discus (107'6"), sixth in the hammer (117'6"), and seventh in the shot put (33'11.5").

Edie Pfefferkorn added a podium finish with a third-place throw in the javelin (104'8"), while also competing in the 400 meters. Astrid Morales chipped in with a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (1:13.82) and seventh in the long jump (14'3.5") showing versatility across disciplines.

The 4x100 relay team of Krostag, Shiann Rivanis, Pfefferkorn, and Yuvi Balles took third with a time of 51.98. The 4x400 relay squad of Krostag, Pfefferkorn, Morales, and Rivanis earned a strong second-place finish clocking in at 4:19.39 to cap the meet.

Several Hornets punched their ticket to the SoCal Regional Prelims with standout performances. Rodriguez qualified in both the 1500 and 5K, while Krostag advanced in the 200, 400, and both relays. Yturriaga qualified in all four throwing events, and Pfefferkorn, Rivanis, Balles, and Morales will all represent Fullerton in relay events, with Morales also advancing in the 400 hurdles.

Up Next: The Hornets head to the SoCal Regional Prelims this Saturday, May 2nd at Bakersfield College. Field events are scheduled to begin at 10:00 am followed by track events at 3:00 pm.
