SOPHOMORE DAY SUCCESS OVER MT. SAC

The Hornets were able to celebrate Sophomore Day with a smile after defeating Mt. SAC 8-1 at home Thursday afternoon.

Prior to the match, sophomores Destiny Lopez and Giana Morales were both recognized by head coach Dr. Yolanda Duron and the rest of the team for their hard work and dedication the past two years

Fullerton jumped out early in doubles play securing points with strong performances across the board. The pairing of Destiny Lopez and Amerie Johnson set the tone with a solid 8-4 win, while Giana Morales and Kelley Anne Luz followed with an 8-2 victory.

In singles, the lineup shift meant everyone moved up a spot and delivered. Destiny Lopez stepped up in the No. 1 position with a 6-4, 6-0 win. Giana Morales continued her strong play with a had fought 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 victory of her own. Kelley Anne Luz added another point with a strong 6-1, 6-1 performance.

Up Next: The Hornets will play in the Orange Empire Conference Championships on Friday, April 2-3. The tournament will be hosted by Orange Coast College.
