The FC women's soccer team kicked off Orange Empire Conference action with a solid 1-0 road victory over Santa Ana College on Tuesday.
With the win, the Hornets begin Orange Empire Conference-play with momentum and confidence riding a 3-5 overall record and are now 1-0 in conference. Santa Ana remains winless at 0-3-4 overall and 0-1 in the OEC.
Fullerton scored the game's lone goal in the 18th minute when Edie Pfefferkorn hit paydirt off an assist from Laura Velez. The strike gave Fullerton the edge early, while the Hornet defensive unit made sure it held up the rest of the way.
The Dons came into the game hungry for their first win applying relentless pressure outshooting Fullerton 16-8, but FC goalie Kimmy Sperling shielded the team earning her second shutout victory. Sperling stopped all 10 shots on goal.
