TOUGH OVERTIME LOSS VS CAL STATE SAN MARCOS - STILL PLAYOFF-BOUND

The Hornet women's lacrosse team came out firing and built a commanding early lead, but host Cal State San Marcos stormed back to hand the Hornets a crushing 15-14 overtime loss on Saturday morning.
Fullerton put together a very strong start dominating the first quarter with a 5-0 lead. Brooklyn Peters set the tone with a huge game finishing with eight goals while consistently cutting through the Cougar defense.
The Hornets continued to control the pace in the second quarter extending their lead to 11-6 by the halftime break. Crisp ball movement and balanced scoring fueled the surge as the team ripped off another offensive outburst.
Cal State San Marcos chipped away in the third quarter before erupting for seven goals in the fourth flipping the script and tying the game late to force overtime. The Cougars completed the comeback in the extra period capitalizing on their final opportunity to seal the 15-14 victory.
Taking the tough loss against Cougars, FC played a competitive match nearly beating a Division 1 team in the Western Women's Lacrosse League (WWLL). Proving to be one of the top D2 teams, The Hornets have officially qualified for the WWLL Division 2 Championships earning the No. 5 seed in championship tournament hosted at UC Santa Barbara.
Up Next: No. 5 seeded Fullerton (8-5 overall, 4-0 Central) will play in the WWLL Championships this coming Saturday (April 18th) when the team takes on No. 4 University of San Diego at 9:00 am.
