The FC women's lacrosse team bounced back in a big way Saturday afternoon overpowering crosstown rival Cal State Fullerton with a much-needed 14-3 victory.
Coming off a tough 10-4 loss at UC San Diego earlier in the week, the Hornets regrouped and delivered one of their most complete efforts of the season. Fullerton controlled the game from the opening draw building a commanding early lead and never allowing the Titans to gain momentum.
FC exploded in the first quarter scoring five goals to take a quick 5-1 advantage.
The Hornets continued to dictate the pace in the second quarter. Peters added another goal off an assist from Neva David, pushing the lead to 6-3 heading into halftime after the Titans briefly closed the gap.
From there, Fullerton took complete control. The Hornet defense shut down the Titan's offense in the second half allowing zero goals over the final two quarters while the offense continued to pile on.
Brooklyn Peters not only led the team with 5 goals but also dominated possession with 11 draw controls and added three caused turnovers. Cavener contributed 6 draw controls and 4 goals. Neva David finished with a goal and 3 assists to orchestrate the attack. Crile and Svorinich each added a goal, while Ramirez chipped in another as the Hornets spread the scoring across the lineup.
With the victory, the Hornets improve to 6-2 on the season as the team looks to build momentum in the midst of league-play.
Up Next: Fullerton (6-2 overall) will look to keep the momentum rolling when the Hornets travel to take on Concordia University Irvine in a WSL matchup on Wednesday, March 18 at 6:00 pm.
