3C2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP: THE GALES OF NOVEMBER REMEMBER
At the 3C2A Women's Golf Championship held at Alisal River Golf Course in Solvang, the traditional two-day tournament, originally scheduled for the 16th and 17th in November was truncated to just one, as the atmospheric river flooded the course and made for unbearable conditions on Monday.

As a result the scores of day one prevailed with Orange Coast and Reedley College in a tie for first place and the championship being awarded to OCC by counting the fifth place score.
It was the Pirate's first time winning the state title, who earned the victory by way of a fifth-player card-off with a team score of 323, equaling the score set by Reedley College. Modesto Junior College finished one shot back of the Pirates and Tigers with a score of 324.
On the individual side, reigning 3C2A champion Sahya Kitabatake from College of the Canyons and Tess Henderson of Reedley were knotted at 72 after one round, which was then decided by a card-off awarding the medalist to Henderson.
Second-year player, Eunjin Chang represented Fullerton College and marked the twelfth consecutive year that Fullerton College competed at the state level, the highest and most revered level of golf at the community college level.
With a strong history in the 3C2A Tournament, Fullerton College has produced two State Champions, Eunsoo Jeon in 2018 and Cathilyn Lee in 2022 both at Morro Bay Golf Course and one other all-state player, Chelsey Gutierrez in 2021 at Cypress Ridge.
With sideways rain, gale-force winds and flooded greens the course and state officials determined that conditions were unplayable making this November one to remember and leaving Mother Nature as the true winner of the tournament.
