The Hornets provided the visiting student-athletes with a guided tour sharing not only the facilities but also the strong sense of community that Fullerton College is known for.
During the visit, Aiea players had the chance to hear from several Hornet coaches across multiple sports, including football, men's basketball, soccer, and baseball. Athletic Director Scott Giles also addressed the team emphasizing the value of education, athletics, and building relationships beyond the playing field.
In a unique show of campus-wide support, even employees from the Fullerton College library joined the effort helping extend the Hornet welcome with a personalized tour.
The Hornet softball program has long fostered strong ties with Hawaii, often visiting the islands to compete in non-traditional (Fall Ball) games against the University of Hawaii as well as Hawaii Pacific University. These trips have created lasting bonds and mutual respect the reinforce the belief that sports are not just about competition, but also about making meaningful connections.
For Fullerton College, this event wasn't just a campus tour. It was a reminder of the power of athletics to connect with communities, bridge cultures, and build a foundation of support that extends far beyond the playing field.
Best of luck this season to Aiea High School Football! It's Coach is Mika Liili's first season at the helm taking over as head coach after long time coach Wendell Say retired after the 2024 season. Liili is continuing the Na Aliʻi tradition of inspirational football along with life lessons.
