Mendoza made an immediate impact during the 2024 season, batting an impressive .333 over 49 games. She recorded 35 hits, scored 22 runs, and collected 21 RBI, including 10 doubles, 2 triples, and 2 home runs. Her offensive spark helped lead the Hornets to their first state championship since 1980 as well as an undefeated 21-0 run in Orange Empire Conference play.
In 2025, Mendoza continued to contribute in a leadership role, appearing in 39 games and batting .237. She totaled 18 hits, 12 runs, and 4 RBIs, along with 2 doubles and a triple. Her steady presence helped propel Fullerton back into postseason contention, where the Hornets advanced to the Super Regionals.
With a state title, a perfect conference season, and a Super Regionals appearance under her belt, Mendoza now takes her talents to the Big Apple, where she will suit up for the College of Staten Island and continue her academic and athletic journey.
"I'm so excited for Mi, she is so deserving of this opportunity. Having coached my sister in 1994 and now my niece beginning in 2024, it has been a beautiful family journey. I was able to witness Mi come up big time during playoffs and at the State Championship in 2024. Winning it all was amazing, and to have family be a part of something special will be engraved for a lifetime. Our family is so excited for Milene and she will be wearing my No. 7 at Staten Island" Hornet Co-Head Coach Marian "Speedy" Mendoza.
