SOFTBALL: ALL-OEC TEAM ANNOUNCED
Three Hornet Softballers were selected to the 2016 All-Orange Empire Conference team in Brigid Ruiz, Tiffiny Centeno, and Becca Perez. Anissa Loera, Evelyn Hernandez, and Alyssa Dilay were honorable mention selections.
Three Hornet Softballers were selected to the 2016 All-Orange Empire Conference team in Brigid Ruiz, Tiffany Centeno, and Becca Perez. Anissa Loera, Evelyn Hernandez, and Alyssa Dilay were honorable mention selections.
This is the second time Ruiz was voted First Team All-OEC. The sophomore pitcher/infielder made her mark the past two seasons with 263 career strikeouts (2nd FC record) and earned 35 career wins (4th FC record). Thus far in the 2016 season, Ruiz has a record of 21-15, a 2.34 ERA, and has struck out 140 batters. At the plate, Brigid batted .257, with 14 RBI, 22 runs, 1 home run, and also hit for the cycle.
A first team selection, freshman right fielder Tiffiny Centeno has been outstanding for the Hornets this season batting .463, 17 RBI, 21 runs, 1 home run, and 8 doubles.
Freshman center fielder Becca Perez was a second team selection hitting a solid .353, with 21 RBI, 26 runs, and 3 home runs.
Sophomore catcher Anissa Loera was an honorable mention after hitting .317, with 22 RBI, 16 runs, and 2 home runs.
Sophomore 3B Evelyn Hernandez (honorable mention) batted .323, knocked in 9 batters, had 16 runs, and hit a home run.
Freshman 1B Alyssa Dilay (honorable mention) displayed some pop in her bat this season hitting 3 home runs, while batting .319, with 13 RBI, and 12 runs.
