The Hornets answered the call at home Friday night knocking off San Diego Mesa 3-1 in a much-needed match.
The win snapped a four-match skid for Fullerton and pushed the Hornets back to .500 at 4-4 on the season. The San Diego Mesa loss lands the team at 4-4 overall.
Fullerton came out strong in the opener using a balanced attack to take the first set 25-22. With the score tied 10-10 midway through, the Hornets pushed ahead with an 8-2 run that swung the game in their favor.
SD Mesa responded in the second set taking an early lead. Despite a late push by Fullerton, the Olympians held on to win it 25-23.
The Hornets pushed back regaining control in the third set jumping ahead 12-6. FC went up 19-12 thanks to a kill by Jasper Nadleson and went on to win it 25-19.
Fullerton closed the door in the fourth set with a convincing 25-21 victory that was punctuated by another kill by Nadelson.
Samuel Chavez led the way with a match-high 14 kills along with 9 digs on the night. Curtis Lee chipped in 10 kills, while Logan Busch added 12 kills and 5 digs. Nadelson had 8 kills along with 6 blocks.
At the net, Fullerton was disruptive defensively recording 20 total blocks, including 6 solo stuffs.
Up Next: Fullerton (4-4 overall) hits the road this Wednesday, February 25th for a 6:00 pm matchup against the Brahmas of LA Pierce College.
