HORNETS HEAT UP WITH ANOTHER SHUTOUT-WIN – FOURTH STRAIGHT OVER SANTIAGO CANYON

The Fullerton College men's soccer team continued its late season surge on Friday blanking visiting Santiago Canyon 3-0 in a key Orange Empire Conference matchup at home.
The win marked the Hornet's fourth consecutive shutout victory lifting their record to 6-6-5 overall and 5-2-3 in conference helping the team to keep pace in the OEC standings tied for 3rd place with Cypress.
Fullerton wasted no time setting the tone scoring in the fifth minute thanks to Antonio Villafana's shot that found the back of the net off the assist from Brandon Acevedo. The Hornets kept the pressure on scoring again in the 20th minute when Daniel Scott booted an unassisted goal giving the team a 2-0 advantage.
Before Santiago Canyon could regroup, Oscar Feria added the final goal of the game in the 29th minute burying a shot off another setup from Acevedo to make it 3-0. With all three of Fullerton's goals coming in the first half, the Hornets defense took over the game in the second half to secure the shutout.
Goalkeeper Steven Martinez knocked down his 7th shoutout of the season while the backline held the Hawks to just one shot the entire match. FC outshot the Hawks 18-1 and held a commanding 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
