The FC men's soccer team showed heart and determination on Tuesday afternoon fighting it out at Santa Monica College to a high-scoring 4-4 tie.
It did not take long for the Hornets to get on the board as Josiahs Palacios struck within the first three minutes of the match for a 1-0 advantage. Santa Monica quickly responded with a goal from Miguel Cano (10th minute), but Jack Overton's 25th minute finish off a Dylan Aguayo assist gave the Hornets a 2-1 edge. The Corsairs evened it up at 2-2 just before halftime on a goal by Leo Blanchet.
The second half belonged to Santa Monica early as Jefferson Parada (43rd minute) and Bladimir Coto (55th minute) pushed the Corsairs ahead 4-2.
With time running out, Fullerton refused to pack it in. Palacios delivered in the clutch with two dramatic goals in the closing minutes on shots in the 89th and 90th minutes with the assists coming from Brandon Acevedo and Jack Overton to complete the hat trick and tie the game up for a 4-4 finish.
Goalkeeper Steven Martinez turned away five shots while facing heavy pressure from the Santa Monica attack.
