Bio
Coach Marshall Johnson enters his fourth season with the Fullerton College Men's Basketball program.

Joining Head Coach Perry Webster's staff in 2023, Johnson played a pivotal role in the Hornets’ remarkable journey to the 3C2A State Championship, contributing to a historic season, a Final Four appearance in 2024 and a state championship runner-up finish in 2025.

During his tenure at Fullerton College, Coach Johnson has been instrumental in recruiting standout players, including Shaquil Bender (Manhattan and Long Beach State), earning accolades such as OEC Offensive Player of the Year and 3C2A State Tournament MVP. He also played a key role in the recruitment of Joe Grahovac (St. Bonaventure), the state player of the year and OEC MVP.

Under Johnson's mentorship, the program has seen significant success, with three OEC MVPs, three OEC Defensive Players of the Year, 21 All-OEC players, and six All-State selections. His ability to recruit and develop talent mentally and foster a competitive environment has been a major factor in the team's achievements.

Before joining Fullerton College, Johnson served as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at Mt. San Antonio College for the 2021-2022 season, where he faced the challenge of building a competitive team from the ground up. Successfully integrating 15 newcomers, he led the Mounties to an impressive 19-8 record and a second-place finish in the South Coast conference with a 6-2 mark. Johnson was instrumental in the day-to-day operations of the program, crafting defensive strategies that positioned the Mounties among the top defensive teams in the 3C2A. Notably, Mt. SAC ranked second in opponent three-point percentage and twelfth in opponent field goal percentage during the 2021-2022 season. His leadership contributed to the development of four All-SCC players, including one All-State selection.

Prior to his tenure at Mt. SAC, Coach Johnson was at El Camino College, where he played a key role in producing two All-Conference guards in 2018. His responsibilities included serving as an assistant coach, academic coordinator, and head of player development.

In addition to his college coaching experience, Coach Johnson is well-respected in the travel basketball circuit, having previously coached with the Prodigy Athletic Institute, developing future Mountain West POY and San Jose State guard Omari Moore.

Coach Johnson’s coaching journey began at Concordia University-Irvine, where he honed his skills as an assistant coach.

A standout guard at Azusa Pacific University, Johnson led his team to two conference tournament championships and a runner-up finish at the NAIA National Championship in 2010. His exceptional play earned him All-Golden State Conference honors in both 2010 and 2011, as well as NAIA All-American recognition in 2011.

Johnson holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies from Azusa Pacific University and has earned a Master of Arts in Athletic Administration (2016) and a Master of Science in Exercise Science (2019) from Concordia University-Irvine.
