YODA OKE SIGNS WITH SAM HOUSTON STATE UNIVERSITY
Oke Goes from Hornet to Bearkat.
Yoda Oke signed a revenue-sharing deal with Sam Houston State University last week and will look to make an immediate impact for the Bearkats, who finished 22-12 overall last season. Sam Houston earned a berth in the National Invitation Tournament before ending its season against New Mexico.
While not the loudest player on the floor, Oke's demeanor, work ethic, and performance consistently spoke for themselves. He helped lead the Fullerton College men's basketball team to the highest pinnacle of success with a 32-1 overall record and the 2026 3C2A State Title. The title marked the Hornet's third state championship in the last six seasons with Oke serving as one of the driving forces behind the championship run.
The State All-Tournament MVP and Orange Empire Conference MVP, Oke captained a Hornet squad that captured the program's fifth straight OEC title. His leadership, consistency, and team-first mentality helped define one of the most successful seasons in program history.
Oke finished the 2026 campaign as one of the top players in the conference ranking among the OEC leaders in multiple offensive categories. He averaged 15.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game while shooting 54.8 percent from the field. Oke scored in double figures in all but one conference game, including eight contests with 15 or more points. His top conference performance came in a dominant win over Saddleback College where he poured in 23 points.
According to Fullerton College men's basketball head coach Perry Webster, "Yoda is an incredible person. He is one of the hardest workers on our team, always reliable, and someone who consistently makes the people around him better, especially his teammates."
A 4.0 student, Oke gives the Bearkats a complete package- a hardworking, high-character student-athlete who elevates everyone around him both on and off the court.
Congratulations, Yoda!
Once a Hornet, Always a Hornet!
