Four more Hornets from the 2024-2025 State Finalist squad will be moving on to the four-year level.
Addy G'bye - Hope International University
Addy G'Bye was hampered by an ankle injury for much of the 2024-25 season but was able to gut it out knockibng down big three-point shots in crunchtime, which helped push the Hornets back to the state title game. One of the top shooting threats in the state, G'Bye earned 1st team All-Orange Empire Conference honors. Addy joins Darvelle Wyatt and Justin Davis at Hope International University.
Jackson Hopps - Oklahoma City University
Jackson Hopps was the seventh and final Hornet to find a new home when he signed with the Oklahoma City Stars who play at the NAIA level. Jackson was with the Hornets longer than most due some bad luck with injuries, but thanks to his determination he was able to get back on the floor last year. A defensive stopper and with a well-diversified skill set on offense, Jackson will make a positive impact on his team.
JQ Strong - Minnesota State, Crookston
Over his two-year career at FC, JQ Strong started many games and helped the Hornets to back-to-back final fours after rehab from an injury sustained at UC Davis. JQ will continue his athletic and academic career at Division II Minnesota Crookston. The Golden Eagles campus is in the northwest corner of Minnesota.
Shawn Woodson - Carolina University
Another success story from last season is Shawn Woodson, who earned the Edgar Clack "Character of a Man" Scholarship and signed to play basketball for Carolina University. The Bruins compete at the NAIA level and are in Winston Salem North Carolina.
Overall, there have been 7 Hornets from last season's very successful squad who moved on to the next level.
Since Perry Webster took over as head coach in 2015, he has moved 44 Hornets on to the four-year level, including 15 players who have earned Division I scholarships. Webster has produced 42 All-Conference players, including 5 League MVP's and 5 SoCal Players' of the Year.
Along with following this year's team, it will be fun keeping an eye on all the Hornets currently on scholarship around the country.
Congratulations to Addy, Jackson, JQ, and Shawn!
Once a Hornet, Always a Hornet!
