FULLERTON SWEEPS TOP OEC HONORS
For the second consecutive season, the Fullerton College men’s basketball team brings home the Orange Empire Conference title along with most of the honors with nine Hornets making the All-OEC team, including FC Head Coach Perry Webster.
For the second consecutive season, the Fullerton College men's basketball team brings home the Orange Empire Conference title along with most of the honors with nine Hornets making the All-OEC team, including FC Head Coach Perry Webster.
Following in the footsteps of his teammate from last season, Chazz Hutchison (now at UC Irvine), Sean Newman Jr. laid claim to the MVP award scoring 12.6 points a game, with a conference-leading 161 assists, while adding 60 rebounds. A shifty guard with an inside and outside game, Newman Jr. also led the OEC in free-throw percentage at 90.8 (99 out of 109).
The Offensive Player of the Year honor went to Fullerton's Shaquil Bender, who averaged 13.6 points a game with 85 rebounds and 31 steals.
Earning the honor of Defensive Player of the Year, was FC's Jeremiah Davis, who had 46 steals, 109 rebounds, 10 blocks, while averaging 11.9 points a game.
Hornet Head Coach, Perry Webster, was named as the OEC Coach of the Year. This is the fourth time Webster has won the award in seven seasons at the helm.
