The first to sign from last season's state title-contending team, Kenny Barnes has chosen to sign with Hope International.
A 6-5 shooting guard/forward from Etiwanda High School (Upland, CA), Barnes was a two-time 1st team All-Orange Empire Conference selection with the Hornets. He averaged 12.7 points a game, 5.7 rebounds, and shot 58.8% from the field. Barnes' highest scoring output in a game was 26. He did it twice, and both were playoff games against Barstow and Chaffey Colleges.
Kenny played a big role in Fullerton's success this past season winning the Orange Empire Conference Championship, a feat that had not been done since 2008. The team was also finished the 2016-17 season as the state runner-up.
"Kenny has been a huge part of our early success here. His scoring and rebounding played a huge role in our late season success this past year, and I expect him to do the same at Hope. HIU's Coach Czech has built an NAIA program that is recognized on a national level. I'm very happy Kenny will have an opportunity to play for a great coach and a great person competing for a national championship", Hornet Head Coach Perry Webster.
