TAYLOR COMMITS TO UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO

FC right-handed pitcher Murdoch Taylor made it official this past week signing with the University of San Diego continuing his academic and athletic career at the D1 level.

A dependable force out of the Hornet bullpen this past season, Taylor emerged as one of Fullerton's most reliable late-inning arms while helping the Hornets make another deep postseason run.

Taylor appeared in 20 games, compiling a 3-1 record with 5 saves with a 2.30 ERA. He also had 34 strikeouts over 27.1 innings pitched. Murdoch limited opposing hitters to just 23 hits while allowing only seven earned runs finishing the year with a 1.39 WHIP. During Orange Empire Conference play, Taylor was equally impressive posting a 1.06 WHIP and striking out 15 batters in 11.1 innings.

Taylor's commitment to the USD continues a strong tradition of Hornet baseball players advancing to the next level. The Toreros add a proven competitor with postseason experience, a power arm, and a pitcher who has demonstrated the ability to perform in high-leverage situations.

During his time at with the Hornets, Taylor helped the team reach the 3C2A Southern California Regional Finals contributing to another successful season under Head Coach Chad Baum.

Now headed to one of the West Coast's premier Division I baseball programs, Taylor leaves Fullerton having established himself as one of the Hornet's most dependable relievers and will look to continue that success in a Torero uniform.
