Catcher Jacob Sharp signed with UNLV this past week, while first baseman Marco Malerba committed to Cal Poly Pomona.
Sharp, out of La Mirada High School, is a two-year starter for the Hornets making 2nd Team All-OEC in 2021. In 21 games that shortened season (COVID-19), Jacob owned a .279 batting average, had 19 hits, 11 RBI, 18 runs, 4 homers, 4 swiped bags, and threw out 8 runners. So far, near the end of the 2022 season (34 games), Sharp is batting .314 with 38 hits, 29 RBI, 26 runs, 3 stolen bases, and 3 home runs.
Malerba, in 23 games last season, batted .222, had 12 hits, 7 RBI, 8 runs, and a home run. So far in 2022, Marco is batting .281 with 34 hits, 23 RBI, 25 runs, 4 stolen bases, and 2 home runs in 36 games played.
