W. BEACH VOLLEYBALL: NICE HOME WIN FOR THE HORNETS

The FC women's beach volleyball team hosted their first match of the season on Wednesday pulling off a close 3-2 win over Mount San Antonio College in a non-conference match.

The first two Hornet pairs to take the sand were #5 Kendall Campos/Ashley Pruitt and #3 Carlie Ortega/Andrea Lopez. Campos and Pruitt fought hard but ended up falling 21-15, 24-22. Ortega and Lopez battled it out winning 21-19, 19-21, 15-12.

The #4 team of Samaria Longstreet/Kristine Perez whipped through their competition 21-11, 21-10.

Lauren Schaefer and Kailyn Case had an uphill battle to fight after losing the first set 17-21. In set 2, they came out like gangbusters winning 21-11. Schaefer and Case pulled out a narrow 16-14 win in set 3 to with the game.

It all came down to the last game of the day in Fullerton's #2 team of Prescilla Gutierrez/Catherine Serna. They went on pull off the pressure-filled game 22-20, 17-21, 15-10 helping the Hornets pull off their first home-win of the season.

Up Next: FC (2-9 overall, 0-1 conference) will play in a four-way against Irvine Valley, Saddleback and Riverside at Riverside City College's Pearce Sports Center on Friday, April 6th. Games will begin at 10:00 am.
